    Description
: Buyer will receive the exact Wedgwood dark blue Jasperware teapot shown in the photographs. Looks like a four seasons-style pattern represented by four classic Roman or Greek goddess-like women. Dipped dark blue ground. Fine, almost porcelain-like white body. Crisp, almost translucent looking cameos. Without the post 1860 three letter date code, this piece dates prior to 1860. Impressed WEDGWOOD mark.
This is a large size teapot!
This very pretty dark blue on the fine body is typical of the pre-1820 period. This exact cameo pattern itself was reproduced by Wedgwood well into the 20th Century, so it is also found on the later inferior jasperware body. The teapot shape was introduced in the late 1700s, probably modeled by or under William Hackwood when he was Wedgwood’s head modeler. The shape is used with many different Wedgwood cameo patterns and was also later borrowed/used by Hackwood & Co. after 1807.
    Size
: approximately 7” diameter x 10” long spout to handle, 6” tall top of finial, 5” tall top of handle,
    Condition Report:
Used. The only fault is at the lower handle there is a stress crack with a small bit of stoneware missing and also some manufactured kiln shrinkage at lower handle joint. Inspected very closely with a black light and we found
    no evidence of restoration
, no repairs anywhere. The lid is perfect and it sings or rings like fine Crystal glassware when you run a finger around the lid’s edge! The spout has no damage. It is very solid. It is very pretty. The cameos all appear to be intact without flaking or losses.
As always due to age and prior usage, the item may have slight imperfections such as minor scuffs, scratches, trim wear, and/or slight manufacturing defects.
