The Explorer is my favorite Gitzo tripod for trekking out into the world as well as traditional shoots!  The under 5 lbs Explorer incorporates many new ideas in tripod design, the most prominent of which is individually locking legs that can be fixed at any angle from 0° to 90°. The column will tilt from the vertical, right over beyond the horizontal and lock solidly at any angle. A swivel at the lock on the column lets you position the angled column over a leg for stability, or between the spread legs to shoot straight down onto the floor. As the name suggests the Explorer is aimed at photographers working in the field. Quick to use, rugged and innovatively designed, the Explorer will help you to discover new ways of using a tripod.
